5 Reasons To Consider a Destination Engagement Session
In case you’ve ever even remotely considered booking a destination engagement session (and even if you haven’t), I will give you 5 pretty great reasons why you should just go for it and book a session in sunny, SW Florida (even if it’s not with me). “Go big or go home” they say, right?
Ok, number one is that “home” is probably boring, am I right? I mean, you see it day in and day out. The same commute to work and back, every day. The same grocery stores, The same scenery. The same obnoxious neighbors. The same in-laws who make it their business to know your business. Oh, the drudgery. We all need a vacation, yeah? So, I mean, if you’re already planning on having some epic engagement sessions done, they why not make an entire memory around the deed? Florida is a great place to visit, especially in the Winter time.
The next reason kind of plays along very nicely with number one, above. Your photos will be unique. Think about it for a minute. How many of your friends have had their engagement sessions done, already? Of those, how many were in an exotic beach location? You would be the envy of your friends and acquaintances. Just think of the reactions to the posts with the love of your life, standing on a beach with a glorious sunset over the water in the background as you stand toe to toe in the sand? They will just be pea green with envy. It’s a great way to stand out from the crowd, for sure! Plus, it will give you variety, having the engagement session photos in a different setting than where the wedding photos will be and keep it all from blending together too much.
Coming up on the list is probably mostly going to apply to our northern friends but here it is…LACK OF SNOW! It’s beautiful here. The sky is usually blue (even on the rainy days, it’s usually gorgeous in the morning. Most particularly during the Winter time. You could escape that snow-shoveling duty for a weekend (or a week or two) and just head down to the sunny shores of South West Florida and kick back on a lounge chair instead of bundling up in a snow suit. This one comes with a warning, though. You may not want to go home until June!
Moving on down is stress. Well, more to the point, stress relief. Let’s face it, planning a wedding is very stressful. There is so much to do and it all gets very demanding and overwhelming, especially if you’re trying to work a 9-5 on top of it. You can get run down really quickly, which may cause thoughts of the wedding day to become more sour than anticipatory. A little getaway for a photo session is just the ticket to recharge your batteries and refresh your soul as you kiss that wedding planner stress goodbye for a few days. With all the hard work, you deserve an “earlymoon”!
Last, but certainly not least, it might just save you money. You have probably already considered having a destination engagement shoot, only to discover that it significantly adds to the cost of your home-town photographer. That’s because they have tickets to buy, hotels to book, rental cars, added insurance for their gear, plus the stress and strain of traveling with their gear, which may be lost or broken by TSA (ask me how I know that one…go ahead, ask me). If you just hire someone local to your destination travel plans, you won’t have all that extra expense.
Traveling is always fun, anyway, so if you are getting married and already know you want engagement photos, then why not just take the plunge and make it wildly fun. It may also give you insight as to how your future mate travels. I say go for it!
